TON gets on a new level

Pavel Durov, the founder of social networking site VK, and later Telegram Messenger, launches new TON platform. There’s been a lot of talk about it but not everyone understands its purpose and how it works. Now software engineers are engaged in testing applications involving well-experienced developers and entire teams. Wirecard AG, the global leader in financial technology working with MasterCard and Visa, was their first partner.

Telegram partners are planning to launch a platform that will combine several functionalities – a social network and payment and financial service that will replace the bank. Currently, programmers are developing a cryptocurrency known as Gram. According to Georg von Waldenfels, Executive Vice President of Consumer Solutions at Wirecard, they are ready to cooperate with TON Labs because they share a vision about the future of blockchain technologies.

The project also drew the attention of CEO of VISA Inc., Al Kelly. He supports the project, as he believes that cryptocurrency does not pose a threat to Visa in the short and medium term. He also added that the company would wait for cryptocurrencies to become established payment method.
